Tamilnadu Temple Tour

Day 01/ Chennai-Arrival

Arrive at Chennai international airport, you will be received by the representative of HTOI and would be further assisted & transferred to your hotel. Rest of the time is kept free to recover from jetlag. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 02/ Chennai

Today take a sightseeing tour of Chennai visiting St. Thomas Cathedral, Fort Museum, Snake Park, Marina Beach and Kapaleshwar temple. In the evening visit Kalakshetra Cultural Village to witness the traditional dance of Tamilnadu Bharatnatyam. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 03/ Chennai-Kanchipuram

In the morning depart Chennai for Kanchipuram (one of the seven most sacred places of India). Kanchipuram was a place of Tamil learning and was the erstwhile capital of Chola Dynasty. Later visit KailasanatharTemple, VaikuntaPerumalTemple, VaradarajaPerumalTemple, UlagalandaPerumalTemple, EkambareswararTemple and AshtabujaPerumalTemple. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 04/ Kanchipuram-Mahabalipuram

In the morning transfer to Mahabalipuram (An UNESCO World Heritage Site). Arrive at Mahabalipuram, check in to the hotel. Take a guided tour of Mamallapuram including the Caves, Krishna Mandapam, Five Rathas, Shore temple and Arjuna’s Penance. It is the perfect place to see the ancient Pallava architecture in South India. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 05/ Mahabalipuram-Tiruvannamalai

Have breakfast and leave Mahabalipuram for Tiruvannamalai (an important pilgrim place of Tamilnadu). Visit the ArunachaleswarTemple, Veerupaksha cave and Ramana Ashram. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 06/ Tiruvannamalai-Pondicherry

Have breakfast and leave Tiruvannamalai for Pondicherry. Arrive at Pondicherry, check in to the hotel. Pondicherry is one of the finest attractions of India. It is also called as the French Colony in India. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 07/ Pondicherry

Today visit the Aurobindo Ashram which is the major tourist attraction of Pondicherry. Sri Aurobindo Ghose, a noted freedom fighter, philosopher and poet founded this Ashram in 1926. The other sightseeing points in Pondicherry are Auroville, Promenade, the temples, Botanical Garden and the Museum. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 08/ Pondicherry-Chidambaram

After having breakfast, transfer to Chidambaram and check in to the hotel. Later visit Natraja temple, Annamalai University and Kali temple. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 09/ Chidambaram-Swamimalai

Transfer to the spiritual place Swamimalai. In the afternoon, take a tour of the town. See the Rangoli – a famous art of Indian women, it is made in front of the home or in the center of the house using many beautiful colors. Later also witness the Pooja ceremony. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 10/ Swamimalai-Kumbakonam-Thanjavur

After having breakfast leave Swamimalai for Thanjavur stopping en-route at Kumbakonam to visit Adi Kumbheswarar Temple, Nageswara Swami Temple and Someswarar Temple. Arrive Thanjavur and check in at hotel.In the evening, take a tour of Shri Brahadeeswarar temple (An UNESCO World Heritage Site) as the atmosphere would be superb at this time. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 11/ Thanjavur-Trichy

Have breakfast and see few prominent temples of Thanjavur – here the architecture of Chola Kingdom once thrived. The main attraction of Tanjore is Sri Brahadeeswarar Temple – a thousand years old temple. In the afternoon, you would be transferred to Trichy (Thiruchirappalli). Arrive at Trichy, check in to the hotel.

Day 12/ Trichy-Madurai

After breakfast, take a guided tour of Rock fort located on Kaveri River’s bank which one of the oldest monument of the world 3800 million years approximately, Srirangam and Tiruvanaikkaval. Later drive to Madurai – the cultural capital of Tamilnadu. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 13/ Madurai-Rameshwaram

In Madurai, take a guided tour of Meenakshi temple one of the best temples of South India and Tirumalai Nayaka Palace - a superb Indo-sarsanic architecture example. In the afternoon, you would be transferred to Rameshwaram (One of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva). Arrive Rameshwaram, check in at the hotel. It is an auspicious place for Hindus as Lord Ram worshiped Shiva here before marching towards Lanka to win the devil king Ravana. Later visit SriRamanathaswamyTemple. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 14/ Rameshwaram-Kanyakumari

After breakfast visit Agnitheertham, SugreevarTemple, Gandamadana Parvatham and various other prominent temples of Rameshwaram. You would be driven further to Kanyakumari (the last land of India). Arrive at Kanyakumari, check in to the hotel. Rest of the time is kept free at your discretions. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 15/ Kanyakumari

The day will be used in visiting Kumari temple, Vivekananda Memorial, Gandhi Memorial and few other sightseeing places of the town. Stay overnight at the hotel.
