Every six years in Allahabad are celebrated in the month of January-February when Jupiter is in Aries or Taurus and in Sun and Moon in Capricorn during the Hindu month of Magh.

In the holiest royal bath of Kumbh, they get the right to take a bath first.
The Naga Sadhus remain naked, enamored with their whole body. Their big hats are also the center of attraction.

Ashes and three-legged Tilak on the heads – The Naga Sadhus, who stay naked and practice in caves, also mentioned in mythological texts.

Naga Sadhus Kumbh Mela
The person who is free from all the temptations of the world can be Naga Sage.
Before becoming a monk, such a person has to donate his body by his own hands with reverence. Akhadas do not accept anyone readily as Naga Sadhus.
There is a strictly taken rigorous examination, where discipline and integrity of tenacity, Brahmacharya, devotions, meditation, ethical values, and faith examined.
Only after passing through this rigorous examination, the person gets glory by joining the highest and the challenging tradition of monastic life.
After this, his entire life dedicated to the Akhada, Saints traditions, and the society.
Meaning Of Kumbh:
Kumbh means urn. The holy urn does the alternation of the Kumbh.
The Kalash (urn) has a particular significance in the Hindu civilization.
Lord Vishnu is the face of the Kalash, Rudra is the neck, Brahma is the Base, all the ladies are the middle part of the Kalash, and the whole ocean is the water inside the Kalash.
Kumbh Mela – the confluence of the four Vedas. In this way, the meaning of the Kumbh is entirely complete.
In fact, Kumbh is the confluence of our civilization. This is the epitome of self-awareness. This is the infinite stream of the humanity.
Kumbh is the union of nature and humanity. Kumbh is the source of energy. Kumbh realizes human’s their sin, virtue and light, darkness.
The human body is made up of five elements: fire, air, water, earth, and sky.
Kumbh And Maha Kumbh
The meaning of the word ‘Semi’ means that half of Kumbh is held after six years and for this reason, in the full moon period, which stayed in twelve years, i.e. six years after the completion of the Kumbh.
In Haridwar and Prayag there is a semi-Kumbh (Kumbh) between two Kumbh (Maha Kumbh) festivals in a gap of six years. Semi or half Kumbh organizes every six years on the banks of confluence (Sangam).
For purity, the semi-Kumbh also attracts lakhs of pilgrims all over the world.
According to the astronomical calculations, this fair begins on the day of Makar Sankranti, when the Sun and Moon enter into the Scorpio and Jupiter in the Aries zodiac.
This yog of Makar Sankranti is called “Kumbh bath-yog” and this day considered a particular delight because they believed that on this day the doors of heaven from the earth open and by taking a bath here, the soul gets liberation with ease.
‘Maha Kumbh’ is a nectar bath time. At the same time, there is a continuous flow of nectar in the sacred stream of the Ganges and the perfect time for Kumbh bath.
Particularly in the land of Uttarakhand, the Kumbh of the holy town Haridwar is called Mahakumbh.
Evidence of the existence of Indian culture held every 12 years. Allahabad is the holy and a popular pilgrimage site of India, situated on the banks of river Ganga in Uttar Pradesh.
This city also mentioned in the religious texts of India. Ved, Puran, Ramayana, and Mahabharata mentioned this place as Prayag.

Maha Kumbh Mela Held At:
Kumbh festival is the most extensive collection of devotees for any religious purpose in the world. Millions of people present during the holy festival – Kumbh Mela.
Kumbh Mela is held in four cities Nashik, Prayagraj (Allahabad), Ujjain, and Haridwar.
In the Hindu religion, the festival of Maha Kumbh is celebrated every 12 years on the banks of one of the holiest rivers – Ganga in Haridwar, Kshipra in Ujjain, the Godavari in Nasik and Sangam in Prayagraj where Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati meet.
Prayagraj Kumbh Mela:
According to astrologers, Kumbh Mela is organized when Jupiter enters in the Aquarius zodiac and when the Sun enters the Aries.
Kumbh at Prayag (Allahabad) is more critical than other Kumbh because it leads to light. Prayag is a place where the symbol of intelligence is the rise of the sun.
Prayag is considered the origin of the universe and the center of the earth.
It’s believed that before the creation of the universe, Brahma Ji did Ashwamegha Yagya here. Dashwamedh Ghat and Brahmeshwara temple are still present here as a symbol of this Yagya.
Maha Kumbh also has particular significance due to this Yagya. Maha Kumbh and Prayag are synonymous with each other.
Haridwar Kumbh Mela:
Haridwar situated at the foot of the Shivalik mountain range of the Himalaya.
In ancient texts, Haridwar was known by the names like Tapovan, Mayapuri, Gangadwar, and Mokshvadar.
The religious significance of Haridwar is immense, and it is a significant pilgrimage place for Hindus.
The position of sun, moon, and Jupiter is required to calculate the date of the fair. Haridwar is related to Aries.
Kumbh Mela Nasik:
Kumbh Mela NasikOne of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India is located in the holy city Trimbakeshwar. The place situated at a distance of 38 kilometers from Nashik and the origin of the Godavari river is also at Nasik.
Once in 12 years, the Simhastha Kumbh Mela organizes in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.
According to the historical proofs, Nashik is one of the four places where a few drops of nectar dropped from the nectar urn.
Thousands of pilgrims pray at the Kumbh Mela for the purification and salvation of their soul by taking a bath in the holy water of Godavari.
The festival of Shivratri is also celebrated with great enthusiasm here.
Kumbh Festival Ujjain:
Simhasth Ujjain SnanUjjain meant the city of victory and situated on the western border of Madhya Pradesh.
It is about 55 km away from Indore, situated on the banks of the river Shipra. Kumbh Mela in Ujjain held on the banks of Shipra river. Ujjain is one of the holy and religious places of India.
According to Astrology, zero degree starts with Ujjain.
Ujjain is one of seven sacred Moksha Puri or Satpura Puri according to the Annan Parv of Mahabharata.
The rest are Ayodhya, Mathura, Haridwar, Kashi, Kanchipuram, and Dwarka.
Kumbh Yog:
Kumbh Yog form according to the below status of the planets-
- When Jupiter is in Aries or Taurus, and the Sun and Moon are in Capricorn, then there is a yog of the Kumbh Mela in Prayag in Chaitra month. On this occasion, bathing in the Triveni offers charity more than thousands of Ashwamedh Yagya, and more than a hundred times by performing circumambulation (Pradakshina) of the earth.
On this occasion of Kumbh, there are two main benefits to pilgrims: Ganga Bath and Saint Interaction. - At the time when Jupiter is in Aquarius, and the Sun is in Aries, then there is a Kumbh festival in Haridwar in Magha month.
- When Jupiter in Leo; or Jupiter, Sun and Moon in Cancer on lunar conjunction (Amavasya), then there is a Kumbh in Nasik in Bhadra month.
- The Kumbh festival celebrated in Ujjain at the time when Jupiter in Leo, and the Sun in Aries, or when Jupiter, the Sun, and the Moon are in Libra on Kartik Amavasya in Vaisakha month.
Mythology:
According to the Hindu mythology, when Indra and other deities became weak due to the curse of Maharishi Durvasa, then the demons invaded the Gods and defeated them.
Then, all the gods went to Lord Vishnu and told him the whole story.
Then, Lord Vishnu churned the Kshirsagar with the help of the deity and demons to get the nectar back.
When Amrit Kumbh (Nectar Urn) emerges from Kshirsagar at the behest of the deity’s, son of Indra ‘Jayant’ flew into the sky with the nectar-urn.
After that, as per the order of Dainikguru Shukracharya, the demons followed Jayant to withdraw the nectar, and after the heavy labor, they caught Jayant in the middle of the path.
After that, there was a constant battle for twelve days in the Dev-Demons for empowering the nectar urn.
Twelve days of the gods are equal to twelve years of human beings. Hence, the Kumbh sites are also twelve in numbers. Four of them are on earth, and the remaining eight feathered in Devlokas.
During this mutual encounter, drops of nectar dropped to four different places (Prayag, Haridwar, Ujjain, Nashik ) of the earth where the Kumbh Mela celebrated.
Ritual Of Kumbh:
Kumbh Fair is the world’s most significant event where millions of people from different castes, religions, and regions, participate.
Kumbh is in the minds and spirits of every Indian. It is believed that bathing in Kumbh removes all your past sins, and you become free from the bondage of death.

The famous ancient traveler, Hsüan-Tsang of China, was the first person to mention Kumbh Mela in his diary.

Despite all the practical obstacles in caste, religion, region, the effect of the Kumbh Mela is on the minds and in fantasies of the familiar Indians.

Royal And Holy Bath:
There is a holy bath every day in the Maha Kumbh of Haridwar, which runs from Makar Sankranti to Vaishakh Purnima and also have a unique bath on some days.
Apart from this, there are three royal baths. On such occasions, the activities of the Sadhus-saints are attractions for the pilgrims.
In Kumbh, the monks and saints of thirteen Akhadas gather at the Kumbh site.
People visit the streets to see this trip coming out of the streets of Haridwar.
In such a way, the lifestyle of these saints awakens in everyone’s mind, especially the Naga saints, who do not wear clothes and keep the ashes on their bodies.
Devotees standing on the path, shower flowers on the saints, offer money, etc. The journey goes through the various arena complexes.
The order of the royal bath for various aqueducts has already been decided. In the same order, they take a bath on everybody’s paw.
Astrological Importance:
Whatever the mythological belief, according to astrologers, the extraordinary significance of Kumbh connected with Jupiter’s entry into the Aquarius and the entry of Sun in Aries.
The position of the planets is used to medicate the water of the Ganga, and on this day the water of holy river Ganga becomes nectar.
That’s why millions of pilgrims come here to take holy baths to purify their conscience. In the medieval period, the position of planets in the Kumbh period is excellent for concentration and meditation.
Cultural Importance Of Kumbh:
Maha Kumbh is not an ordinary festival; it is a festival of knowledge and devotion.
The religious atmosphere of the festival is unique.
Whatever camp you go to, you hear the sounds of Ved Mantras in the middle of the Yagna (religious sacrifices).

Every year, the Magh Mela starts in the month of Makar Sankranti, which is the first critical bath day according to the religious Hindu calendar.

A large number of people come here annually and stay in temporary homes or tents at the confluence, spending a full month of Magha in prayer. This period is known as “Kalpvas”.

It said that by observing the purity of a “Kalpvas”, a devotee could overcome the sins of the previous life and leave the cycle of Birth and Karma (action).
During each day of the Magh Fair, a Kalpvasi prays in the Ganga of the rising sun.
Most of Kalpvasi only take meal once a day. At the end of Kalpvas, the Kalpavasi has to donate bed and all the belongings (called “Shayya Dan” as a ritual).
