It was in 1838 when Captain T.S Burt, a British army engineer, rediscovered the abode of temples. Out of 85 temples, only 22 temples could be brought back to life.

One can get the audio guide facility at a booth near the ticket counter. An English or foreign language guide costs Rs. 100 while an Indian or local language guide costs Rs. 60.
