The tour takes an interesting turn today as you leave for the city of love, Agra. En-route you stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted town which was founded as the capital of Mughal Empire. It houses some wonderful monuments from the past like Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chishti, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, Ibadat Khana, etc.
Later continue your drive to Agra. Upon arrival, check into the hotel and rest for a while. Then get ready for a visit to the majestic Taj Mahal, one of the most photogenic monuments in the world. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was commissioned by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan in 1632. It houses the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Over 20,000 artisans were employed to raise this masterpiece. It flaunts beautiful Persian and earlier Mughal architecture. Next you will visit the historical Agra Fort which was home to the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty till 1638. The size of this fort is so grand that it can be more precisely termed as a walled city.
