Mount Kailash is an auspicious place for 04 major religions as Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, Jainism and Bonpo - a pre Buddhist faith. Tibetans call it Khang Rimpoche (Valuable Snow Jewel). It is believed that that one stream from this mountain pours in a lake closely and from there the rivers go in four basic directions. The Lion’s river Mouth towards North, the Horse’s river Mouth in east, the Peacock’s river Mouth towards south and the Elephant’s river Mouth towards West side. Surprisingly, these main four rivers really originate close Kailash - the Yarlung Tsangpo also known as Brahmaputra, the Indus, the Sutlej and the Karnali. Tibetans consider that this is the Demchog’s residence. Hindus believe that it is Mt. Meru’s earthly manifestation and on its top Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati live. For Jains Mt.
