South India is also called Dravida in the national anthem of India. South India is located in the peninsular plateau of Deccan and Arabian Sea bounds it in the west and in the south Indian Ocean and in the east is Bay of Bengal. South India’s geography is quite diverse and includes two major mountain rages as the Eastern Ghats and Western Ghats. The places located in these mountain rages are very famous hill stations as Ooty, Munnar, Coonoor and Kodaikanal etc.

The beaches of Kovalam, Marari, Varkala, Alleppey, Kapad, North Kerala, Marina Beach of Chennai and Mahabalipuram are very popular among the tourists. Kerala is world famous for its backwaters & the backwater houseboats. There are many wildlife sanctuaries in South India as Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Wayanad, Nagarhole, Bandipur, Dandeli and Madumalai Wildlife Sanctuary.
South India is well known for its grand temples, monuments, tombs and the medieval forts. Char Minar of Hyderabad, Golconda Fort, the world heritage sites like Hampi, Pattadakal, Mahabalipuram & the temples of Thanjavur, the temples of Hoysala period in Karnataka, Mysore Palace, Meenakshi temple in Madurai & the other temples of Tamilnadu state are some of the finest attractions of South India. Apart from this Kerala is very popular for its Ayurvedic treatments and rejuvenation therapies. The union territory of Pondicherry is known as French colony and one can see the beautiful buildings of that era. Andaman & Lakshadweep Islands are quite popular for the water sports like scuba diving and snorkeling.
